Question: I write song lyrics and i want to get them noticed.?

(Posted by: Kerosene on 2009-05-31 13:22:08)

I write songs quite a bit, and I was wondering if there was any way to make money writing songs. I don't really know how I would go about making that into some sort of a career.

Make them good and you will make it.

Run an ad looking for individual musicians. Then create a band and have them play your songs. --------------------------------------------- I would beg to differ with most of the answers. Song lyrics hardly need to be good -- or even understood. You need one clever line to go with a catchy tune and your in business.

I would start out posting videos on youtube. Then become famous. Do you know some people are being noticed on youtube like nigahiga (2 asians that do comedy.) Before they were just regular you-tubers now they have role on a movie. I also recommend american idol. Remember when kelly clarkson was an average teen working in a diner until she went on the show.

I write songs a lot. I'm not a professional at it and it's metal songs. All I did was show my classmates a few of my songs and watch their reaction. If you're trying to make a band, you could show your stuff to a bunch of people and they could hook you up or join your band (depending on if they even have any musical talents or not).

As far as I know, you can get in touch with record companies and talk with them... like if you live near one, walk in and they'll make an appointment to check your stuff out... maybe learn to play the guitar a bit? if you strum along people might pay more attention... but they do have jobs for just songwriters for people who can't sing/ play anything

Either join some sort of band and contribute by offering your lyrics... record your songs and post them on youtube .... Remember there are a lucky few who become famous on youtube ... :) or put a couple up on a website mabey use facebook , or myspace say that they are a few of the types of songs you write then copy the link of your webpage and paste it to other peoples pages and send to your friends who hopefully if they are good will send them around. Then you hope that someone who might be interested in them will see them... :)

It is very hard to live from music. The record companies are not very friendly to the new artists. I would suggest you to try independently. Find people who support artists (no agencies) go to festivals and there you can start to become famous and then more and more... this is the only way Some tips here miketheblacksheep.wordpress.com/ 2009/ 05/ 02/ how-can-i-make-it-in-the-music-industry/
