Any tips for writing song lyrics?
I've been playing musical instruments for a while, and I'd really like to get into lyric writing. The only problem, though is I REALLY suck at it. I've tried countless times to write something that's somewhere near decent, but everything comes out awkward. I've been struggling with lyric writing a good half year now, and after that long, I'm starting to think I just can't write lyrics. Before I give up, though, I was just wondering if anybody had any suggestions that might help me. I've tried writing about things I'm passionate about, I've tried free writing and taking bits and pieces to make a song, and I've tried writing from songs I like. Everything always comes out awkward and cheesy. Okay so for my chemistry class we've been assigned to do a rap about laboratory safety. Which is just like, wash your hands after dealing with chemicals.. don't run around the lab.. listen to your instructors.. etc.Can anybody spare a few verses? It would help a lot More rules for lab safety are always be alert, tie up your hair, don't wear loose clothing, no open toed shoes, and be very alert at all times

OKay so since i was seven I've been writing lyrics that have absolutely no meaning in them. BUt now that I'm 14 i feel as though i should be writing songs with meaning so people can see what I'm talking about, get it, and like it.
