Question: Having trouble song writing?

I've been trying to write a good quality song for a while now but I come up with a line or topic and don't know how to follow through. Any advice/ suggestions?

Always write about things that are near and dear to your heart. I am not necessarily talking about love songs, just anything that is important to you in the moment. Keep a notepad by your bedside, you'll find sometime the best lyrics appear in the strangest places.

Find something you are interested in something that you know well ( so its hard to run out of ideas)
