Open your mind, it usually helps when your emotions are flowing. I'm not a song writer, but I knew one. One day when your feeling depressed, or happy, just feel the music flow out of you.

Well getting inspiration is okay, but when i write about songs i find getting a tune is easier to get off to first, tap out a beat or rhythm or heck, even a guitar riff if you can , and work off of that. try not to get too influenced by other rock songs out there, stay illusive and original. best of luck dude. : ]

Think of a kool name and build up from their. Or if you like glam metal repeat that same title again and again in the middle of the song.

Don't just try to write, write when you have inspiration. That might be any time... You might need to scribble down ideas for lyrics on the back of receipts, or tap them into your cell phone and save them even! You might draw your inspiration from anything. A common place is from your own life and experiences, any worries or feelings. Other good places: issues you feel strongly about stories, in the news or from books, you've read people you know the future, for you personally, or the world in general dreams you've had, or day dreams a story or poem you've written things about culture, society & people... of today, or of some point in the past. Good look. = D

Choose a word and build on it. like this. watches. "time is running short, but i haven't even done enough, dont know where i'm going, but i got to pick it up. " from there the guitar should pick up. this is and uptempo record bny the way. you can run with something like that. see what i'm saying? just choose a word.
