I have question about song writing and what not on garageband?
I'm writing songs right now, on garagaband and I'm a little confused. I'm planning on sending my stuff into a record company. I only know how to play piano, and the songs that I right in my head have all the works. Should I just record my voice, and put a few piano chords in there? Or should I do something different? Thanks for all your help

What would you rate my singing and song writing on a scale of 1-10?
The video and sound quality really suck. They make it sound like I have a lisp and it's quite fuzzy...but besides that...What do you think?youtube.com watch?v mhTv97 h RIApparently it does, because I have 20 views and a rating already...maybe it just doesn't work for you.
When song writing, what determines the chorus chords and the length of the chord progression?
For instance. Say I had written a verse that went F, B, C, F 8,8,8,8 .. Would I still have to remain in the F Scale? Would the chords have to corrospond to the 8,8,8,8 timing exactly four repeating chords or could I play a combination that totals 32?The chords in the verse I mentioned were just made up on the spot. If you want apply the question to a collection of chords that work. I am trying to find 'the rules' so I can understand them and understand how best to bend them when I need to and not end up with disjointed music that sounds good on its own but bad together.. understand why, and modify it and not spend hours get annoyed.. etc

Need help with song writing?
I'm in a band, and we have only made covers of songs so far. I'm the singer, and am kind of stuck with writing the songs. Without original songs we can't do anything but small gigs, and are stuck as to how far we can go with our band. The only problem is... I have no idea what i'm doing when i write a song. I've got lyrics and stuff. But i don't know how to do the melody, instruments, or turn the lyrics into an actual song. I write alot of poetry, and my lyrics are pretty much four poems put together, one acting as the chorus. It's really bad. So, what i need is either someone who knows how to write songs and could help me, some PLACE that could help me, and aren't there people out there who get paid to actually write songs as well? Oh my dear, i have no idea. I am so lost. Tell me anything and everything you can that you think could help me please.... Am open to anything. Thank you... Oh yeah, and if it means anything we're a rock punk alternative screamo band thing. Yeah, i get it pretty diverse.

I need song writing help?
I've always wanted to be in a band and play guitar and sing. I'm quite good at both, but I just can't WRITE songs. I need help with how to write a song, what all the different 'sections' of a song, are, how to get a tune to sing the song in That's my biggest problem I can write poems and all that, though. This would be really, helpful. Thanks
Which is more useful in song-writing, guitar or bass?
I am NOT writing pop, so don't just say " write simple chords and focus on the lyrics, let the bass player just follow with the root notes" because that will piss me off. I'm writing progressive rock, and every instrument is playing a melody of some sort, including bass. I've so far been writing the guitar chords with an acoustic guitar, then composing a drum beat, then letting the bass do whatever, but I'm wondering if its worth selling my acoustic guitar and a few other valuable things to buy a bass and an amp or if that's a waste of time. For an example of the kind of thing I'm trying to compose, listen to the album " Octahedron" by The Mars Volta. On some songs, it sounds like the bass was composed first, doesn't it? So should I be paying more attention to composing the bass part? Please helpi understand that progress is change but you seem to misunderstand my question. i didnt ask " which is more common" i asked " which is more useful."
Rock song-writing questions?
So I've tried to write songs before and had no luck. I've looked online, and at other answers on Yahoo to see what tips they had, and I've used them. I write down phrases when I think of anything remotely good, I try to write at least a general set of chord progressions, and get help from friends, but I can't seem to get good lyrics. If you guys could just post any helpful tips or advice, it'd be greatly appreciated. Rock genre
