This is kind of tough to answer, because there is no "right " way to write a song. I'll tell you the two ways my band used in the band I was in. My lead singer always came up with a guitar riff first (a specific melody that repeats throughout the song), and then would builda song out of what thoughts that riff produced. So if you have a particular sound or rrhythmbanging in you head, focus on what that sound provokes in you. I always set my words down on paper first, in poetry form. I must have 200 of the things kicking around. Most never made it to song form, but some, after I read them, I was able to translate into a song. Really, all song lyrics are, is poetry set to music. So I wwouldpick a topic that I wanted to think about, and write. The more you write, the better feel you will get for rrhythmand measure. Speak you words out loud, and, for God's sake, don't try to twist your words or thoughts just to make a rhyme. Write from what you really feel. |
