Question: Guitar song writing tips and tricks?

I like to play and listen to classic rock like Fade to black by metallica. Can somebody give me tips on how to write great songs like they do? Any Tips would be useful. The problem I face is that every note i try to add to a song im writing seems to ruin it and i feel i need to recreate a different song everytime. I don't really like to use chords though. Only Power Chords. Plz help a fellow guitarist out EDIT: I'm trying to write the instrumental Part of the song for guitar im not writing lyrics.Everytime I come up with a good riff either its been used before or i can never find a part to link it with the other riffs it always ends up this way it gets me very angry. Is there any tips for writing rock songs on a guitar. IM NOT WRITING LYRICS!!!!!!!!! Any tips for coming up with how to make songs would be helpful

You shouldn't be writing music if you have to think about it. The website source has the lyrics of a great poem that explains it much better then I ever could. Don't get the wrong idea, it's great to listen to Metallica ^_- just don't call it classic rock.
