Question: Name of a country song written after the 9/11 attacks?

(Posted by: mfinne2222 on 2009-12-21 09:03:55)

It was written within days after the attacks and it was on the country stations, written by a canadian artist..The song was basically saying how America has always helped out everyone else and america should just tell the world to basically kiss their ass. They eventually took it off the radio and my dad really would like to know the name if anyone could help!

It was not written after 9/ 11, but rather dates back to the 1970s. It's called "The Americans (A Canadian's Opinion). " The recitation was written and originally recorded by Gordon Sinclair, Country Music Hall of Fame member Tex Ritter did a version of it as well. The two that come to mind are "Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue " by Toby Keith and "Remember When " by Alan Jackson. Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue lyrics: American girls and American guys, will always stand up and salute. We'll always recognize, when we see ol' glory flying, There's a lot of men dead, So we can sleep in peace at night when we lay down our heads. My daddy served in the army where he lost his right eye, But he flew a flag out in our yard 'til the day that he died. He wanted my mother, my brother, my sister and me. To grow up and live happy in the land of the free. Now this nation that I love is fallin' under attack. A mighty sucker-punch came flying in from somewhere in the back. Soon as we could see clearly through our big black eye, Man, we lit up your world like the fourth of July. Hey, Uncle Sam put your name at the top of his list, And the Statue of Liberty started shaking her fist. And the eagle will fly and it's gonna be hell, When you hear Mother Freedom start ringing her bell. And it'll feel like the whole wide world is raining down on you. Ah, brought to you, courtesy of the red, white and blue. Instrumental break. Oh, justice will be served and the battle will rage: This big dog will fight when you rattle his cage. An' you'll be sorry that you messed with the U.S. of A. 'Cos we'll put a boot in your ass, it's the American way. Oh, oh. Of the red, white and blue. Oh, hey, oh. Of my Red, White and Blue. Remember When lyrics: Remember when I was young so were you time stood still love was all we knew You were the first, so was I made love and then you cried Remember when Remember when we vowed the vows walked the walk Gave our hearts, made the start, it was hard lived and learned, life threw curves There was joy, there was hurt Remember when Remember when old ones died new were born life was changed, disassembled, rearranged We came together, fell apart broke each other's hearts Remember when Remember when the sound of little feet was the music We danced to week to week Brought back the love, we found trust Vowed we'd never give it up Remember when Remember when thirty seemed so old Now lookin' back, it's just a steppin' stone To where we are, where we've been Said we'd do it all again Remember when Remember when we said when we turned gray When the children grow up and move away We won't be sad, we'll be glad For all the life we've had And we'll remember when Remember when Remember when

OK I just want to point out the second person really has the wrong song by Alan Jackson following 9/ 11. I'm not even sure HOW Remember when fits what you were thinking of. The song he did after 9/ 11 was Where were you(when the World stopped turning). Anyway I'd say the first answer is probably what you are looking for, just wanted to comment on the other answer.
